VOLVO CE and Unicontrol Launch Integrated 3D Machine Control for Excavators in North America
Publication Date: 2026-02-27   Promulgator:Admin   Clicks:3 Back

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) and Unicontrol have announced the launch of integrated 3D machine control technology for Volvo CE excavators in the North American market, marking a major step forward in digital construction solutions.

Following a successful rollout in Europe in 2025, the Unicontrol3D system is now available in North America and fully integrated with Volvo Active Control through the Volvo Co-Pilot platform. The solution provides operators with a single interface and unified hardware setup, designed to improve efficiency, accuracy and ease of use on the jobsite.

When customers order Volvo Co-Pilot with Dig Assist directly from the factory, all required hardware and software are pre-installed. Operators only need to activate the Unicontrol3D application to access advanced 3D guidance capabilities. The system supports a wide range of tasks, including trenching, grading, slope work and site profiling, helping operators work faster and with greater precision.

A key advantage of Unicontrol3D is its open and adaptable design. Unlike traditional closed machine control systems, the software can be used across different excavator brands, data formats and workflows. This flexibility enables contractors to optimize mixed fleets without being locked into a single technology ecosystem.

Unicontrol, a Denmark-based company owned by Spectra Precision, is recognized as a fast-growing disruptor in the 3D machine control market. The partnership aligns with Volvo CE’s strategy of offering customers greater choice and accessible digital tools that enhance productivity.

Both companies emphasize that growing demand for flexible, easy-to-use machine control technology continues to drive innovation across the construction equipment industry.
