On July 28, 2026, YANMAR Holdings Co., Ltd. and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. announced that they had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore potential collaboration in the compact equipment business. The LOI was signed on July 23, marking a new step toward cooperation between two established Japanese machinery manufacturers.
The proposed collaboration will leverage the respective strengths of both companies. YANMAR Compact Equipment brings extensive expertise in compact machinery, while Hitachi Construction Machinery contributes its global sales, service, and construction and mining machinery infrastructure. The companies will explore a broad range of cooperation opportunities aimed at enhancing product competitiveness and delivering greater value to customers and dealers.
Importantly, the companies plan to maintain their respective brand identities and independent dealer networks. This approach reflects a flexible partnership model that seeks to create synergies without requiring full-scale integration.
The move also highlights the growing importance of collaboration in the global compact equipment market, where manufacturers face increasingly diverse customer needs, faster technological development, and intensifying competition.
